The creamy chicken filling is full of flavor and perfectly combines shredded chicken, monterey jack cheese, cream cheese, black beans, green chiles, and garlic powder. We recommend that you use soft room temperature tortillas and dampen them with a small bowl of water before assembly.

Once you have filled the tortillas with your chicken filling, roll them up and place them in a single layer, seam side down, on parchment paper. Brush the tops of the taquitos with olive oil, and then spray them with additional cooking spray and sprinkle with garlic powder. Bake the taquitos in the oven until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serve the taquitos with your favorite dips and cheese melts, and watch as you and your family enjoy a delicious and flavorful meal. To turn this into a freezer meal:

Add chicken, taco seasoning, cream cheese, and water to a gallon-sized freezer meal bag. Squeeze out as much air as possible and seal bag closed. Place freezer bag into freezer and it will last 60-90 days. When ready to use, spray inside of slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray and dump ingredients from bag into slow cooker. Place the lid on top. Cover and cook on LOW heat for 6-8 hours (or HIGH heat for 3-4 hours). Follow the rest of the instructions as written.

You can also freeze this after the taquitos are assembled and then just reheat them in the oven or microwave.

For some reason, this recipe won't show up on my phone. ? I used my computer like in the olden days ha ha and printed off the recipe. They turned out great and my kids loved them! We'll be seeing these on our table again. :)

    Can you freeze them?

  4. Cyd says:

    Yes, these will freeze well.

  5. Billie says:

  9. Stephany says:

Doesn't the chicken make a lot of juices while cooking??

  10. Paul says:

Are they crispy after being baked?

  11. sherry says:

can you sub cream cheese for plain greek yogurt?

  12. Cyd says:

You could sub in plain yogurt but the taste may be slightly different. A cup of plain yogurt would need to be strained in a cheesecloth overnight to get out any excess moisture that might make it be too runny.

  13. Cyd says:

They crisp up a little bit, but not really crunchy. They are still kind of soft. Our kids love them.

  14. Kendra says:

Can you use frozen chicken breasts? Thanks in advance!

  15. Cyd says:

You can use frozen chicken breasts with this recipe.

  16. Jenn says:

Love this recipe! How would you suggest freezing and reheating?

  17. Cyd says:

Hi Jenn. I would do all the steps in the recipe, but when it says to lay them seam side down on a baking sheet is when you would put them in your freezer container. Then when you are ready, thaw in the fridge and heat as directed on the recipe instructions. Hope this helps!

  18. Angela says:

My picky eaters love these. It’s a regular recipe/dish in my home!

  22. Heather says:

At the moment we do not have an oven can I fry these in a pan after rolling up

  23. Cyd says:

That will work fine. You'll want to cook until heated through.

  24. Allie says:

I already have some shredded chicken- can I adapt this recipe to not include the slow cooker?

  25. Cyd says:

Sure, you could start with step 4 in the directions and make the recipe from there!

  26. Jennie says:

Would this recipe work in the instant pot?

  27. Cyd says:

We have a post showing how to convert recipes to the instant pot. Here is the link - https://www.sixsistersstuff.com/how-to-convert-recipes-into-instant-pot-recipes/

  28. Mary says:

Can’t find the number of servings for this recipe or for the creamy cilantro taquitos. Maybe I’m not looking in the right places, but could you tell me number of servings for each of these please ? :) Thank you!

  29. Cyd says:

About 6 servings for the cheesy chicken taquitos. It takes 12 tortillas but they are smaller 6 inch tortillas. So plan on 2 per person.

  30. Jane Jacob says:

Can I make this in a normal stock pot (and how long will I cook it if I use a stock pot instead?) Thanks!

  31. Momma Cyd says:

A stock pot is a lot different than a slow cooker. You need to have the chicken cooked through and then shred. Then heat through with all of the other ingredients before rolling up in a tortilla. You will definitely need to switch up the instructions a little to make these work.

  32. Shelby says:

Hi! How many taquitos are considered one portion? Thanks!

  33. Momma Cyd says:

The recipe calls for 12 tortillas. You could maybe fill 14-16 if they weren't stuffed as full. With 6 servings each serving would be 2 taquitos. Small children don't eat as much as adults. It really depends on who you are feeding. But for sure it makes 12 taquitos.
